This is a senior, visible role for a commercially minded Branch Manager / Depot Manager / General Manager who enjoys being hands-on with customers and teams. You’ll take full P&L ownership for the flagship Evesham Trade Centre, with operational and commercial oversight of the Cotswolds site, working closely with the GM and Managing Director to drive growth, profitability and service.
If you like being on the shop floor, building trade relationships, and improving performance with real autonomy—this one’s got your name on it (figuratively… unless your name is “Trade Centre Manager”, in which case it’s spooky).

About the Company
Our client is a well‑established home improvements and trade supercentre based in Evesham, with an additional site serving the Cotswolds. They supply a wide range of products including windows, doors, roofing solutions, conservatories and ancillary building products, supporting both trade and retail customers.
Due to continued growth and the desire to strengthen leadership at site level, they are now looking to appoint a Flagship Trade Centre Manager to take ownership of the Evesham trade operation and oversee the Cotswolds trade site.
The Role
You’ll be the senior on‑site leader for the flagship Evesham site, responsible for the team, customer experience and P&L, while also providing operational and commercial oversight to the Cotswolds site manager.
This is a hands‑on leadership role—expect to be at the trade counter and with customers as much as you’re reviewing performance, margins and KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
* Lead, motivate and develop the Evesham team with clear standards
* Support the Cotswolds site manager and ensure consistency across both sites
* Own staffing, recruitment, training and performance management
* Build a positive culture focused on service, safety and commercial performance
* Run regular team meetings, 1:1s and reviews
Commercial & Customer Focus
* Own the P&L for Evesham, driving sales, margin and profit growth
* Work with the GM on pricing, promotions and product mix
* Build strong relationships with key trade customers and understand pipelines
* Grow spend and retention of existing accounts and win new trade customers
* Monitor and improve customer care and complaint resolution
Operations & Service Standards
* Ensure smooth daily running: stock, merchandising, housekeeping and H&S
* Maintain strong “on time, in full” performance for orders and deliveries
* Oversee stock levels and ordering, working with suppliers/internal teams
* Ensure compliance with company standards and relevant requirements
* Use KPIs/dashboards to track and improve performance
Multi‑Site & Stakeholder Management
* Provide regular performance updates to the GM and Managing Director
* Work cross‑functionally to support joined‑up delivery and cross‑selling
* Share best practice across Evesham and Cotswolds for consistent service
* Represent the trade centres locally with customers, suppliers and partners
What We’re Looking For
Must‑haves
* Proven experience as a Branch / Depot / General Manager in a trade, builders merchant, construction supplies or similar environment
* Strong people leadership: coaching, development and performance management
* Commercial awareness: P&L, margin, pricing and basic reporting
* Experience working with trade customers (builders, installers, contractors)
* Track record improving sales, profit and customer service
* Confident communicator with credibility at all levels
* Highly organised, able to balance daily operations with planning
* Hands‑on leadership style—leads by example on the shop floor
Nice to have
* Knowledge of windows, doors, roofing or home improvements
* Multi‑site responsibility or supporting more than one location
* Experience within an independent or fast‑growing SME
* Familiarity with customer care metrics (OTIF, reviews, NPS, complaints)
