Offer description

The Role We’re looking for a driven and detail orientated Technical Manager to lead Phase 2 of our Tiller Road development, a joint venture with our partner Riverside, right in the heart of Canary Wharf. With Stage 3 design kicking off this spring, it’s a brilliant time to come on board, shape the direction of the scheme and build your team around you. This phase will deliver 384 new homes, including two high-rise towers both over 20 storeys, alongside mid-rise elements and new public spaces as part of the wider regeneration vision. It’s a substantial, high-profile project with real complexity - and a genuine opportunity to make your mark on one of East London’s most exciting neighbourhoods. You’ll lead the Gateway 2 submission, bringing the design team together to make sure everything is aligned for the Building Safety Regulator. It’s about keeping information organised, making sure all the details are thorough and compliant, and seeing the submission through smoothly. A key milestone for the project and a great chance to show confident, hands-on leadership at an important stage. You’ll have experience in leading and managing all design elements of large RC frame residential project from start to finish and have been involved in RIBA stages 3-6. You’ll be key in appointing a principal designer and the consultants, coordinating with our commercial team, recruiting a team, chairing design team meetings, putting robust QA in place – all the way through to delivery. Ours is a high-performance culture. High performance in this role is having sharp attention to detail and real pride in your work; you’ll make sure every technical requirement is nailed with precision. You’ll help get drawings approved and out the door on time, while championing great collaboration between the delivery and commercial teams so the design hits the sweet spot on budget and programme. You’ll also keep a close eye on consultants, making sure invoices and variations are spot on, and pull together clear, regular reports that keep everything moving in the right direction. Balancing the day-to-day with an eye on what’s coming next, you’ll spot risks early and team up with colleagues across different functions to tackle them before they become issues. This is a culture where you’ll be giving and getting feedback from day one, because we think it’s the fastest way to learn and to build trust. We want to be challenged by you, too – we hate unnecessary hierarchy and “my way or the highway” has no place here. So, if you’re interested in working on a new flagship scheme apply now! Mount Anvil What we do: We’ve worked in partnership for 31 years to create outstanding places in London. We’re growing, with our construction turnover doubling, and with a pipeline of new projects where we’re raring to get started and make a difference. Why we’re here: We’re here to pursue better, differently. Better : One of The Sunday Times’ “100 Best Small Companies to Work For” for over a decade, winner of multiple Pride In The Job and WhatHouse awards for our people and the quality of our homes, and proud to have the nation’s best site in our ranks (winning the highest possible marks across the Considerate Constructors Scheme’s five areas – the first site ever to do so in 22 years of the CCS). Differently: Our culture is unusual. Different means more transparent with information. More direct with feedback that helps us all grow. More rigorous about setting goals, then giving more freedom to go and achieve them. It’s definitely not for everyone. We don’t hire know-it-alls, we hire “learn-it-alls”. As our CEO, Killian, says: “We work hard to find people who thrive on context and responsibility, rather than rules and procedures. We then work like owner managers, not a leader and a load of helpers. ” Benefits: Private medical insurance for you through Vitality (including discounts on spa breaks, cinema tickets and your food shopping, free Starbucks, 50% off Virgin Active Membership and more). Income Protection Insurance to help you cope financially if you’re unable to work due to illness or injury, Life Assurance equivalent to four times your salary, 25 days annual leave & Bank Holidays, enhanced maternity and paternity leave and workplace nursery salary sacrifice, allowing you to save tax and NI on monthly nursery fees. We think the best benefit of being here is the learning culture and the ability to make a real difference – we dislike hierarchy and politics, and “not my job” isn’t in our vernacular. Which means if you really care about raising the bar and really want to feel connected to the end product, as opposed to like a cog in a big machine, this could be the place for you to grow your career.
