Ecommerce Technical Lead
Location: Hybrid (3 days office-based, 2 days WFH)
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 (DOE)

For several years, the agency has partnered with one of the UK’s fastest-growing ecommerce businesses, acting as a true extension of their in-house team. This thriving client relationship has created the need for an Ecommerce Technical Lead to drive the next phase of technical innovation and growth.
This pivotal, client-facing role involves leading the technical development and optimisation of the agency's largest ecommerce client. Acting as both a strategic consultant and hands-on technical lead, the successful candidate will ensure the ecommerce platform is robust, scalable, and aligned with the client’s commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the technical roadmap and development of the client’s ecommerce platform.
* Ensure all technical work aligns with the client’s wider business objectives and commercial growth goals.
* Oversee integrations with third-party systems (ERP, CRM, payment gateways, logistics, and marketing tools such as HubSpot).
* Implement and optimise workflows and integrations using Zapier and API connections.
* Provide consultative technical advice to senior stakeholders, identifying risks, opportunities, and innovative solutions.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with both client-side and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment across teams.
* Collaborate with developers, designers, and marketers to deliver seamless customer journeys.
* Monitor, test, and optimise the platform to improve speed, UX, functionality, and conversion rates.
* Stay technically hands-on with plugins, coding, and emerging ecommerce technologies, bringing new ideas and opportunities for innovation.
* Manage and resolve technical issues quickly, ensuring minimal disruption to ecommerce operations.
About You:
* 5+ years’ experience in ecommerce development and technical leadership.
* Strong knowledge of ecommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify Plus, Magento, WooCommerce, or similar). Ideally WooCommerce!
* Hubspot and WordPress experience.
* Proven experience with API integrations, Zapier automation, and custom development.
* Proficient in web technologies including PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and SQL.
* Experience with HubSpot integrations and automation.
* Demonstrated ability to translate business goals into technical solutions that deliver measurable growth.
* Strong senior stakeholder management skills — able to consult, advise, and build long-term relationships.
* Technically strong with plugins, coding, and an appetite for staying ahead of new technologies and products.
* Analytical problem-solver with excellent attention to detail.
* Proactive, consultative mindset — someone who treats the client’s success as their own.
* Agency experience (preferred) or experience in a fast-paced ecommerce environment.
