Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and autonomous HCPC Registered Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our well‑established Home First Rehabilitation Service in North Staffordshire. You will be part of the Allied Health Professionals service providing Occupational Therapy in a variety of settings.

You will be responsible for delivering high quality rehabilitation to patients with a range of physical health conditions including MSK, Stroke, Parkinson’s disease, neurological conditions, spinal injuries, cancer, post‑surgery, general frailty, amputees and many other conditions, giving you a varied and exciting experience.

Excellent support is offered through CPD routes and robust learning plans within the four pillars of AHP practice. Opportunities to represent our service locally, regionally, and nationally are available, including UKSF & CSP conferences. Due to the varied nature of this role you will be required to travel across the geographical area to meet demand.


Main Responsibilities

* Manage a caseload of adults in close liaison with the Home First Team.
* Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and agencies to address care/support needs, prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and improve patient health and wellbeing.
* Be a specialist HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with detailed professional and clinical knowledge.
* Assess complex or specialist care/support needs and develop, implement and evaluate care/support packages.
* Hold supervisory, training and leadership responsibilities where appropriate, supporting team performance and development.
* Demonstrate initiative and creativity in problem solving.
* Progress independence, self‑management and safety for patients.
* Improve functional ability and overall health and wellbeing, including mental health.


Qualifications & Training


Essential Criteria

* Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* HCPC Registered.


Desirable Criteria

* Master’s level modules.
* Evidence of further clinical study.
* Apple Accreditation.
* Leadership experience or qualification.
* Member of BAOT/COT.


Experience


Essential Criteria

* Post‑qualification courses in working with older people and people with physical disabilities.
* Attendance at relevant clinical networks or special interest groups.
* Up‑to‑date field work / pre‑registration student training.


Desirable Criteria

* Experience using standardised assessments and outcome measures.
* Experience of negotiation and conflict management in clinical situations.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities


Essential Criteria

* Relevant experience including assessment and interventions for a wide range of disabilities.
* Support service users, families and carers in dealing with disability impact.
* Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Prioritise individual care and treatment according to health status and needs.
* Discharge and transfer individuals where appropriate.
* Flexibility with working hours to enable 7‑day working.


Desirable Criteria

* Knowledge of relevant NSFs and NICE guidance.
* Understanding of the NHS agenda and its application locally.
* Continuing healthcare assessments.
