Assistant Plan Co-ordinator
Salary: £15.66 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Barnsley
Client: Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council
Contract Type: Temporary (Initial 3 months)
Hours: Full-time, Hybrid (Office attendance required on Mondays and Thursdays)
Responsibilities
* Support the implementation and maintenance of EHCPs in line with statutory duties.
* Respond to customer enquiries via phone, email, and face-to-face, including sensitive and emotive cases.
* Provide comprehensive advice and guidance on SEN processes to internal and external stakeholders.
* Administer statutory assessment panels, including agenda preparation, minute taking, and action tracking.
* Assist with documentation for panels, appeals, and tribunals.
* Handle complaints professionally and sensitively.
* Maintain accurate records and manage electronic data across case management systems.
* Order goods/services and resolve financial queries.
* Compile and analyse data for reports and statutory returns.
* Promote digital service usage and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
Experience & Knowledge
* Experience working with legal/statutory processes and deadlines.
* Background in local government or large organisations.
* Handling confidential and sensitive information.
* Communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders, including the public.
* Managing demanding workloads and meeting strict deadlines.
* Knowledge of SEN and related services is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with the Data Protection Act and confidentiality principles.
Skills & Competencies
* Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet use.
* Confident in using case management systems.
* Analytical skills with attention to detail.

* Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Qualifications
* Relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
* Training in Microsoft Office applications.
