Exciting opportunities are available to join the Endoscopy team at Torbay Hospital.
The department has recently opened its new £5m Endoscopy Suite and dedicated training facility.
Educational courses are delivered by our onsite training team and include GI courses in partnership with the University of Plymouth. Newly qualified nurses are welcome to apply.
The department offers the opportunity to work in different areas of the service, allowing you to gain experience and knowledge within inpatient and outpatient environments. The Endoscopy unit at Torbay Hospital has been nationally recognized for its high standards of patient care, being an exemplar site for Endoscopy care, training, and Bowel Cancer Screening.
You will need a mix of skills, including the ability to develop effective working relationships and effective time management. In return, we offer a friendly working environment, role development, and personal development plans supported by training opportunities.
The Endoscopy Unit delivers an extended service, including evenings and weekends.

Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible and accountable for the nursing care of designated patients from admission to discharge.
2. To participate in the care, maintenance, and use of endoscopes used in procedures, providing technical assistance during procedures.
3. To ensure a high standard of nursing care within policies and procedures.
4. To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, documenting appropriately.
5. To document patient care using the endoscopy unit care pathway, including discharge and aftercare information.
6. To communicate effectively with relatives, carers, visitors, and the multidisciplinary team.
7. To engage with student nurses and observers, providing support and guidance.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: NMC Registered (Level 1) Adult Nursing
* Desirable: Degree in nursing or on the pathway, interest or experience in endoscopy, NURB 363 Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Related Procedures for Nurses (expected to undertake this course)
Knowledge
* General knowledge of GI diseases, endoscopic interventions
* Leadership skills
* Computer and IT skills
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
