Key responsibilities of the role of Legal Secretary include, but are not limited to, the following:
You will primarily be engaged in supporting the work of the UK immigration legal team.
Core aspects of your role will include:
Drafting client engagement letters, file opening and closing forms, letters and emails to clients and suppliers, and general correspondence;
Conducting Anti-Money Laundering checks against clients and prospective clients on Creditsafe;
Reviewing AML and business monitoring alerts from Creditsafe as requested by fee earners;
Setting up new clients and new matters on the firm’s client management system;
Answering telephone calls and other correspondence such as email enquiries, and directing responses and enquiries to the relevant person and/or team;
Maintaining the firm’s client management system and filing system;
Drafting invoices and emailing them to clients once finalised;
Drafting forms and applications as instructed by paralegals or lawyers within the team;
Maintaining firm diaries;
Electronic filing (and manual filing where applicable);
Photocopying and scanning as requested;
Making payments where requested and keeping the legal cashier (Cashroom) updated regarding any online payments in accordance with office procedures;
Reviewing stationery requirements with the team and placing orders as needed;
Carrying out other secretarial and administrative functions as instructed by the Partner.
