DevOps Engineer – SQL Server / Windows Infrastructure

We are currently supporting a leading global consultancy on the search for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing platform and infrastructure team on an initial 6-month contract basis.
This role will focus on maintaining and enhancing a large-scale analytics platform used across multiple global engagements. The successful consultant will work closely with development and support teams to improve deployment processes, maintain platform stability, and support ongoing infrastructure improvements.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong Microsoft infrastructure background combined with DevOps and automation experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server environments
* Maintain Windows and Linux server infrastructure
* Improve and support CI/CD and deployment pipelines
* Work closely with development teams to remove blockers and optimise environments
* Provide 3rd/4th line platform support
* Monitor platform alerts and troubleshoot production issues
* Support long-term platform maintenance and upgrade initiatives
* Assist with security remediation and infrastructure improvements
* Collaborate with internal technical and support teams
Required Experience
* Strong SQL Server administration experience (SQL Server 2019+)
* Performance tuning
* Backups & recovery
* Troubleshooting and debugging
* Security administration
* Windows Server administration (2016/2019)
* PowerShell scripting and automation
* Experience supporting Windows-based .NET services
* Understanding of Active Directory and enterprise networking concepts
* Experience working within complex enterprise environments
Desirable Skills
* Octopus Deploy
* NuGet package management
* Experience within support/helpdesk environments
* Exposure to DevOps tooling and deployment automation
