Clerical Officer – Sexual and Reproductive Health
Join NHS Scotland as a Clerical Officer in the Sexual and Reproductive Health team at Coathill Hospital.
Role Overview
The Clerical Officer will provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to clinical and non‑clinical staff to ensure the smooth running of the Sexual and Reproductive Health service within NHS Lanarkshire.
Key Responsibilities
 * Provide front‑line administrative support to clinicians, nurses and other staff.
 * Manage appointment booking systems and coordinate patient appointments.
 * Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality, diplomacy and discretion at all times.
 * Handle telephone enquiries, mail and other correspondences promptly and professionally.
 * Maintain and update clinical and administrative databases (e.g., PECOS, SSTS, Trak Care).
 * Prepare and maintain office supplies inventory and ordering.
 * Assist with event and meeting coordination, including external site visits where necessary.
 * Support staff in managing workload and prioritising tasks under pressure.
 * Provide occasional cover for annual and sick leave requests.
Qualifications
 * Standard grade education or equivalent experience in a similar clerical role.
 * Well‑developed interpersonal and customer care skills.
 * Excellent communication and organisational skills.
 * Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages.
Desirable Skills
 * Working knowledge of NHS systems such as PECOS, SSTS, Trak Care, and room booking systems.
 * SVQ 2 in Business & Administration.
 * Experience working in a busy reception or NHS clinic setting.
 * Knowledge of NHS clinical appointment systems.
 * Experience dealing with members of the public, delivery drivers and estates staff.
 * Flexibility to cover external site issues, e.g., car park token machines.
Contract & Working Pattern
Permanent – part time, 35.5 hours per week. Working pattern: Mon, Tue, Thu, and Fri 9:00 am – 4:30 pm; Wednesday 9:00 am – 4:06 pm. Salary is pro‑rata.
