Caretaker – Secondary School

Hours: To be confirmed (shift pattern, 5 days per week)
About the RoleWe are recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in Wakefield for a Caretaker to join their site team as soon as possible. This is a long-term sickness cover position, offering a supportive working environment.
The school is looking for someone reliable, proactive, andmitted to maintaining a safe, clean, and weing environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
1. Opening and locking up the school site
2. Basic premises duties
3. Setting up rooms for lessons and events
4. Litter picking and general upkeep of outdoor areas
5. Ensuring the school site remains clean, tidy, and safe
6. Supporting the site team with day-to-day tasks
Please note: this role does not require extensive DIY or maintenance skills.
The Ideal Candidate
7. Previous experience in a caretaking or premises role (school experience desirable but not essential)
8. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
9. Strong awareness of health & safety
10. Able to start immediately
11. Have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be happy to apply for one.
