About the Role - Head of School - ESOL
Reporting to the Assistant Principal for Supported and Targeted Learning, you'll be responsible for overseeing the full ESOL provision, including full-time and part-time programmes. You will lead and inspire a team of curriculum and support staff to deliver high-quality, inclusive education that meets learner needs and funding priorities.
Key responsibilities include:
• Curriculum leadership across all ESOL programmes
• Quality assurance and teaching excellence
• Team leadership and staff development
• Strategic planning and implementation of qualification changes
• Driving improvements in attendance, retention, and learner outcomes
Who We're Looking For - Head of School - ESOL
We are seeking an individual with proven management experience within Further Education and the ability to drive continuous improvement in ESOL provision.
Essential Skills & Experience:
• Degree-level qualification and a full Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, DET)
• Minimum 3 years of relevant teaching experience in ESOL within FE
• Deep understanding of ESOL curriculum developments and inclusive learning strategies
• Demonstrated success in managing teams and developing staff
• Experience in curriculum management, change leadership, and quality improvement
• Strong knowledge of FE funding, resource management, and local education priorities
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
