Job Description: Head of Video Production (AI-Enabled)
Company: Malaberg
Location: London (preferred) | Hybrid / Remote for exceptional AI talent
Compensation: Negotiable + Bonus
Start Date: Immediate
1. The Opportunity
Malaberg is a DTC brand holding company that builds and scales brands using data-backed performance marketing. We are seeking a Head of Video Production whose foundation is traditional video production—shoots, post-production, long-form VSLs—and who is actively moving into AI-enabled video production.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will run the department end-to-end, manage remote editors, set timelines, maintain systems, and own final quality. Note: The biddable/ performance-marketing side (media-buying fluency) is our lowest priority and can be taught internally.
2. Key Responsibilities
Traditional Video Production: Plan, manage, and run on-set shoots end-to-end (locations, shot lists, crew, post-production). Produce high-quality long-form VSLs, understanding story arcs, pacing, music, visual congruency, and retention.
AI Integration: Build AI-enabled workflows using tools like HeyGen, Kling, VO3, Pigs, ElevenLabs, RunwayML, and emerging platforms. Drive the company towards high-volume, low-cost video testing. Bridge AI-generated content and traditional post- production by generating assets in AI tools, then stitching and polishing them in Premiere/After Effects.
Department Leadership: Run the video department, manage the roster of remote editors and film crews, evaluate quality, set realistic timelines, and prevent bottlenecks. Assess editor output and provide technically sound feedback rather than blindly approving cuts.
Systems Management: Implement and maintain clean systems in Notion for asset tracking, status visibility, and performance linkage to ad platforms.
3. Ideal Profile & Requirements
Experience Level: Mid-tier producer, ex-freelancer, or a senior editor at a rapid-growth eCommerce brand ($10M+) who is ready to step up and own a department.
Velocity & Environment: Background in fast-turnaround environments such as
DTC, eCommerce, social, gaming, or lead gen. You possess a 48-hour sprint mentality, not a 6-week production cycle mindset.
Hands-On Technical Skills: You have a background as a video editor or motion designer and are highly proficient in Premiere Pro and/or After Effects. You have edited professionally, not just managed, and can jump in to fix an edit at 6pm on a Friday if needed.
Active AI Adoption: You are already using AI video tools in your current work, not just aware of them. You can name and demonstrate proficiency with current AI video tools.
Management Style: Low ego—you clear roadblocks rather than restructuring. Self-managing, tech-curious, and hands-on.4. Interview Process
1st Stage: Screening (online - 35mins)
2nd Stage: Task (if portfolio not sufficient)
3rd Stage: In person interview with founders and HR
