Campus Safety Assistant
Full time, 42 hours per week (average)
4x 12 Hour Shifts (4 on 4 off)
Grade 3 (£22,.00 - £23,.80 pro rata), plus an unsocial hours premium
Reporting to the Estates and Facilities Manager, you will help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for staff, students, visitors, and contractors. As a visible and reassuring presence on campus, you will represent the University in your daily duties. These will include operating CCTV and door access systems, providing first aid when required, and carrying out administrative tasks such as inputting incident and first aid reports, as well as managing lost property. You will also conduct regular patrols of both the campus interior and exterior.
Campus Safety Assistants are scheduled to work 4 x 12-hour shift per 8 days. Shifts are generally 12-hour shifts on either, Day Shift (06:00 to 18:00) or Night Shift (18:00 to 06:00).
The role requires a friendly and approachable individual with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a high level of empathy and understanding. You must be able to remain calm under pressure, adapt to changing environments, and mediate challenging situations effectively. Punctuality, reliability, and the ability to work well as part of a team are essential.
