Post within the Tier 1 NICU Medical Rota (ST1 - ST3 equivalent). Working alongside Tier 2 (ST4 or equivalent) and Tier 3 (Consultant Team).
Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will participate fully in the Tier 1 (SHO) rota, compliant with current junior doctor contract stipulations. Possible upgrade to Tier 2 rota will include pro rota cover of the neonatal transfer service. Cover for transport service will depend on the competency of the post holder. Flexible working is feasible.
Any changes will be negotiated and reflected in the job plans of the team.
Engage with medical, nursing, management and all relevant co-workers in the delivery of department objectives: to provide clinical leadership, improve the patient experience, and ensure the highest quality clinical care.
Actively participate in and support other staff with education, lung ultrasound logbook, research, quality improvement, audit and clinical governance activities involving a multi‑disciplinary workforce across the department.
Participate in the professional training of the staff in the department, both medical and non‑medical, and contribute as required to teaching sessions for other hospital staff as well as undergraduate and postgraduate staff, including supervision of FY doctors and medical students.
Job responsibilities
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Peters Hospital is a tertiary service commissioned by NHS England to provide full medical neonatal services for inborn babies (both booked and transferred in‑utero), as well as for ex‑utero transfers from other providers.
Opportunities exist to develop roles and responsibilities that facilitate the further development of our neonatal service.
Working pattern includes Long Days (09:00 - 21:30); Nights (21:00 - 09:30) and weekend working.
Qualifications and Further Training
* Evidence of clinical experience in secondary or tertiary neonatal care at SHO level or above
* MRCPCH or equivalent
* Level 3 Child Safeguarding
Experience
* Evidence of good knowledge/training in neonatal medicine.
* Evidence of active participation and completion of neonatal audit or quality improvement (QI) work.
* Evidence of leadership work in neonatal medicine.

Salary
£52,656 to £65,048 a year plus £149 HCAS p.a. plus additional rota payments.
