What you’ll be doing
as a Drone Pilot
1. Conduct aerial and underground inspections using drones and photogrammetry tools.
2. Capture and process high-quality data to create models like point clouds.
3. Develop and execute flight plans collaboratively with project teams.
4. Ensure compliance with CAA regulations and maintain accurate flight logs.
5. Mentor and support other drone operators to enhance their piloting skills.
6. Ensure UAV equipment is always serviceable and available.
7. Update dashboards, raise orders for defective equipment, and maintain inventory.
8. Assist below-ground teams during high-task periods.
9. Work with Catchment Managers and Field Operations Managers to identify survey opportunities.
10. Engage with external departments to explore new surveying opportunities.
11. Contribute to reducing entries into below-ground assets by 5% as part of the maintenance plan.
Base locations: London - Hammersmith (W69RS), Greenwich Storm (SE108JL) or Abbey Mills – Stratford (E152RN);however, you will cover a wider area and drive between several different sites, therefore, you will need a full clean UK driving licence.
Working pattern: 36 Hours per week (Mon-Fri)
Essential Certification: UK remote pilot licence GVC.
What should you bring to the role?
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need is:
12. Knowledge of UK airspace regulations and confined space safety protocols.
13. Microsoft Platforms, including Excel and knowledge of producing dashboards and pivot tables.
14. Experience in writing Safe Systems of Work.
15. Advanced IT and data processing skills.
16. Ability to balance aerial and ground-based tasks effectively.
17. Works well across teams and supports skill development in others.
18. Seeks opportunities to optimise processes and reduce manual interventions.
19. Prioritises compliance with safety regulations for confined space and flight operations.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring
20. Extensive UAV operation experience, supported by logged flying hours, is desirable.
21. Confined Space Low/Medium Risk Operative certification.
22. Work at Heights.
23. First Aid at Work certifications.
24. DSEAR.
