Job Summary
This role assists in the day‑to‑day duties of the Pharmacy Procurement and Distribution service, focusing on receiving and distributing medicines. The incumbent works under the supervision of the Senior Pharmacy Procurement and Distribution Team and supports cross‑site receiving practices. The role is based at the King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Denmark Hill, London.
Main Duties
* Use EPIC to issue stock items to replenish wards, departments and community clinics.
* Utilise Omnicell data to respond to stock requests and support optimisation.
* Assemble picking tickets, check and pack items for delivery.
* Top‑up drugs to designated wards and provide cover as required.
* Complete cycle counts for Omnicell cabinets and report inventory discrepancies.
* Conduct stock and expiry checks, documenting results and reporting any inaccuracies.
* Issue daily 'to follow' items for wards and departments.
* Record environmental temperatures and report anomalies.
* Return excess ward stock to Pharmacy Stores, confirming shelf life and quantities.
* Accept and sign delivery receipts for pharmaceutical products from suppliers.
* Unpack goods, checking quantities, conditions, tamper seals, shelf life and prices, and sign delivery notes.
* Maintain consistent goods receiving practices across Denmark Hill and PRUH.
* Map all received goods accurately onto EPIC at point of receipt.
* Assist with the QA release of unlicensed medicines.
* File purchase orders and delivery notes in line with procedures.
* Keep a clean, safe and tidy working environment in all pharmacy stores.
* Support daily checks of medical gas stores, maintaining stock levels and cylinder turnover.
* Put away stock into the Pharmacy Robotic system, shelves, Dispensary or Aseptic Department.
* Dispose of daily waste following strict procedures.
* Perform general duties within stores/distribution areas as required.
* Cover the picking, issuing and delivery of IV fluids when necessary.

Job Responsibilities

Person Specification
* Essential Qualifications: GCSE English and Maths (Grade A‑C)
* Desirable Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 – Pharmacy Services
* Essential Knowledge & Experience: Understanding of the medicines supply chain in a hospital environment.
* Desirable Experience: Experience with medicines, hospital environment, and stock handling.
* Essential Skills: Communicate routine information in writing, electronically, or orally to internal and external staff and members of the public; organise own day‑to‑day rostered activities.
