Main duties of the job An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic Band 6 Junior Sister / Charge Nurse to join our Cardiovascular ward (D3) within the Cardiovascular and Thoracic care group. D3 is a 22 bedded unit and will support the expansion of Cardiac Surgery and Tavi services. What You’ll Do Detailed job description and main responsibilities To be responsible for assisting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the management of the ward/unit over a 24-hour period, ensuring high standards of care are maintained and available resources are utilised effectively. You will be assisting in the day-to-day management and organisation of D3 as required, demonstrating clinical expertise, and acting as a role model within the Cardiovascular & Thoracic setting. Person specification Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience Essential criteria Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma) Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register Significant post registration experience / qualification / training, including experience and knowledge within relevant speciality Ward management experience Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service Provide evidence of supporting / managing a range of learners in practice Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice Desirable criteria Experience in handling adverse events and complaints Appraisal skills Some insight into budget management Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed Trust Values Essential criteria Patients First Always Improving Working Together
