Job Overview This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced pharmacist to join our dynamic pharmacy team at Wexham Park Hospital. The post is ideal for Primary Care Pharmacists seeking to transition into hospital pharmacy, as well as junior hospital pharmacists looking to broaden their clinical experience and take on a specialist rotational role within a supportive and progressive hospital environment. Our Band 7 rotations are designed to provide exposure to a wide range of clinical specialties and to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required for progression to advanced-level or specialist roles. You will work closely with Lead Pharmacists, clinicians, nursing staff, and senior managers to enhance and develop pharmaceutical services across multiple directorates, ensuring safe and effective use of medicines and optimal patient outcomes. The Successful Candidate Will Place the patient at the centre of all decisions and actions. Demonstrate strong communication, clinical, and interpersonal skills. Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Be organised, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to manage changing priorities and contribute positively to service development. The Specialist Rotational Clinical Pharmacist will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality clinical pharmacy services across a range of specialty wards and clinical areas. The postholder will contribute to the safe, effective, and optimised use of medicines, ensuring compliance with Trust, national, and professional standards. They will act as a role model for clinical excellence, demonstrating advanced knowledge, sound professional judgement, and leadership within clinical pharmacy practice. The postholder will deliver and develop pharmaceutical care in line with the Trust’s strategic and departmental objectives, collaborating closely with Lead Pharmacists, clinicians, nursing staff, and senior managers to support medicines optimisation and service improvement. They will provide education, training, and supervision for junior pharmacists, trainee pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians, helping to build competence and confidence across the team. The role includes participation in specialist clinical rotations to develop advanced knowledge and prepare for future progression, as well as involvement in clinical governance, research, audit, and service development to drive continuous quality improvement. While based primarily at Wexham Park Hospital, the postholder may be required to travel to other sites within Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, including Heatherwood Hospital, to meet service needs and support integrated pharmacy services across the organisation. The Specialist Rotational Clinical Pharmacist will be an integral member of the Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust (FHFT) pharmacy team, working primarily at Wexham Park Hospital, with opportunities to gain experience across multiple clinical specialties. The Postholder Will Provide high-quality clinical pharmacy services across a range of wards and specialist areas, ensuring the safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medicines. Support medicines optimisation and patient safety initiatives, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver the highest standards of pharmaceutical care. Act as a role model for clinical excellence, demonstrating advanced knowledge, sound professional judgement, and a commitment to service improvement. Contribute to education and training, supporting the professional development of trainee pharmacists, junior pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals. Participate in service development, clinical audit, and research activities to improve the quality and efficiency of pharmacy services. Provide support to dispensary services (both inpatient and outpatient) as required, including clinical screening, accuracy checking, and patient counselling. Undertake duties as part of the late, weekend, and Bank Holiday rotas, and contribute to the on-call service in line with departmental requirements. Work collaboratively across sites, including Heatherwood Hospital, to support the delivery of consistent and integrated pharmacy services throughout the Trust. The role offers an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to develop within a supportive and progressive environment, gaining valuable experience across a wide range of clinical areas. Applicants must be, or be about to become, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacist. Applications are welcome from all sectors of pharmacy practice, including hospital, community, primary care, industry, and academia. This is a part-time position, and the postholder will be expected to participate in evening, weekend, and Bank Holiday duties as part of the departmental rota.
