This role will lead the Trusts & Foundations team at Home-Start UK and drive the development and delivery of a fundraising strategy that builds on a recent period of significant growth. With projected income of £1.5 million in 2025/26, the successful candidate will focus on generating sustainable, high-return income through charitable trusts and foundations.


Key Responsibilities of the role:

Strategic

* Develop and implement a strategy to secure income from trusts & foundations to capitalise on the recent period of growth, creating sustainable, stable, income that delivers a good ROI.
* Lead trusts & foundations team to develop and deliver a robust process for researching and identifying suitable charitable trusts & foundations.
* Ensure trusts & foundations applications are of the highest quality.
* Ensure the stewarding of grant funders in order to raise significant funds.
* Lead the trusts & foundations team in building an applications pipeline that secures long-term trusts & foundations income ensuring financial targets are met and exceeded.
* Work with the marketing team update and develop where needed a suite of high-quality materials to be used in applications to trusts & foundations.
* In line with the fundraising strategy establish objectives and KPIs for the trusts & foundations team that helps to deliver trusts & foundations income thus meeting agreed targets.
* As part of the Heads of leadership group support the Director of Fundraising & Communications in the leadership of the fundraising & marketing team contributing to the development and delivery of the fundraising & marketing strategy playing a lead role in contributing to wider income generation and marketing.


Philanthropy

* Support the Director of Fundraising & Communications, and members of the Executive Leadership team including the co-CEOs to secure key philanthropic relationships (eg with high-net-worth-individuals with a deep interest in the early years who may give via their trust or foundation) utilising the skills, experience and resources of the trusts & foundations team as appropriate.


Operational

* Lead on the quarterly and annual budget process for trusts & foundations, working closely with the Director of Fundraising & Communications and the Finance Team with close attention to grant funders financial targets.
* Proactively manage budgets, monitor and report on trusts & foundations income generation including pipeline, applications successful and the status of existing grant funding to ensure income targets are delivered.
* Implement a formal prospect research and management system to identify new/emerging opportunities and work creatively with colleagues and external partner organisations to develop high quality proposals to maximise these opportunities
* Utilise the relationship database as appropriate (currently Raisers Edge) to oversee a co-ordinated approach to recording and monitoring grants and reporting to funders.
* Set and monitor relevant KPI’s for both short and long-term growth.
* Ensure that our trusts & foundations relationships are compliant with Data Protection law and with good practice in Fundraising Standards and legal requirements in this area.
* Ensure relevant policies and procedures are implemented and developed where necessary.
* Write the key funding applications to the major trusts and foundations and support the team in the writing of high-quality, impactful applications.
* Ensure all grant funders receive regular and timely reports on progress, as required.


Communication/Liaison

* To work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to identify and collate collateral showing the impact Home-Start makes to ensure the submitting of high-quality, impactful applications.
* To work closely with the finance team to ensure we are representing and managing relevant financial information and grant agreements accurately and effectively.


General Responsibilities

* Maintain and improve personal and team competencies through continuous professional development.
* Work collaboratively with staff across Home-Start UK and the Home-Start Network as appropriate, and particularly in accordance with the Home-Start Agreement.
* Work effectively and efficiently to administration, communication, health and safety protocols and policies to ensure that organisational systems and procedures are implemented.
* Abide by organisational policies, codes of conduct and practice as described in the Staff Handbook and on the Home –Start Intranet - @Home.
* Support and promote diversity and equality of opportunity in the workplace.
* Treat with confidentiality any personal, private or sensitive information about individual organisations and or schemes or staff etc.
* Carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop or be assigned in line with the broad remit of the post


Be prepared to travel to funders and Central Office in Leicester as appropriate to deliver on your role
