Here at Aspire People, we are currently seeking SEN & SEMH Teaching Assistants to work at a large Secondary School located in Northampton, supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role:
As an SEN & SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a variety of learning needs, including those with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) challenges. You will work closely with both the class teacher and individual students to ensure they can access the curriculum, engage with learning, and develop their social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN and SEMH needs.
* Assist in the delivery of tailored lessons and activities to meet individual learning requirements.
* Help students develop positive relationships with peers and staff, and support their social and emotional development.
* Assist with classroom management and behaviour support strategies.
* Work closely with the SENCo and teaching staff to monitor and track student progress.
* Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students to reach their potential.
* Participate in training sessions to further develop your skills and knowledge in supporting SEN/SEMH students.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Previous experience working with students with SEN and/or SEMH in an educational setting is desirable.
* A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to supporting students with a wide range of needs.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
* An understanding of strategies to support students with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.
* Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent are preferred but not essential.
* A positive, proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
