Primary Care Pharmacist (Band 7)
Hours available: 72 hours (2.0 WTE)
Location: Pharmacy Team, Aberdeen City HSCP.
Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) has an exciting opportunity for pharmacists with a background in primary care, community or hospital pharmacy to become part of the primary care pharmacy team in Aberdeen. The successful candidates will join our team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and be key to the ongoing provision and innovation of the pharmacotherapy service across Aberdeen City.
We have a total of 2 whole time equivalent vacancies, however, part-time may be considered with a minimum of 21.6 hours per week.
Roles and responsibilities
With support from more senior pharmacists, the post holder will work as a pharmacist across GP practice(s) covering all aspects of medicines management and pharmacotherapy to ensure safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medicines in line with local and national guidelines. We also have a pharmacy hub providing remote support to practices to cover, for example, annual leave from within the practice team.
Ideal candidates will work well within a team and on their own initiative. The successful candidate will undertake a wide range of tasks such as medicines reconciliation, Medicines Care & Review, pharmaceutical queries including management of shortages and promote quality, cost‑effective prescribing.
Qualifications and requirements
* Have a degree in Pharmacy
* Be a pharmacist on the practicing register of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Have broad clinical knowledge
* Have good IT skills
* Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Be a car owner and driver (business use on car insurance)
* Be able to work in any location in Aberdeen city
Candidates may be an independent prescriber (IP) already, or in the process of completing this qualification. Candidates not currently undertaking the IP course will be encouraged to do this at a point agreed to be most suitable and appropriate.
