Contract Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

About the Role:
As Head of Learner Support, you will take the lead in shaping and delivering support strategies for learners with a wide range of needs, including those with learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairments, and additional learning needs. You’ll oversee teams delivering SEND, ALS, and functional skills support, ensuring the highest standards of service across FE, HE, apprenticeships, and 14–16 provisions.
You’ll also act as a key representative for the College during inspections, audits, and external events, playing a crucial role in safeguarding, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead, manage, and develop learner support services across the college, ensuring outstanding delivery of SEND, ALS, and core skills support.

Oversee the planning, resourcing, and implementation of tailored support plans for students with identified needs.

Ensure learner progress and achievement align with national benchmarks, especially for students with SEND.
*
Prepare the college for inspections (e.g., Ofsted, QAA), audits, and external quality assessments.
*
Work closely with internal departments and external partners to ensure smooth learner transitions.
*
Monitor key performance indicators and deliver regular reports on impact and effectiveness.

Line-manage and develop a multi-disciplinary team of learning support specialists.
What We're Looking For:

A degree or equivalent professional qualification.
*
Qualified SENCO status and strong safeguarding credentials.
*
Significant experience in SEND, safeguarding, and learner support within FE and HE settings.
*
Proven track record of leading teams and securing improvements in learner outcomes.
*
Strong understanding of funding and compliance frameworks.
*
Confident budget management and data-led decision making.
*
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
