Senior Payroll Officer - Aylesbury
We are working with an established payroll bureau in the Aylesbury area seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to lead their payroll operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned payroll professional to take ownership of a well-established client portfolio whilst enjoying exceptional flexibility.
The Role
As Senior Payroll Officer, you will oversee the end-to-end payroll process for approximately 200 SME clients, managing a small team of one direct report. This position offers genuine autonomy and the chance to shape payroll operations within a supportive professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage monthly and weekly payroll processing for circa 200 clients
* Lead and develop one team member
* Ensure compliance with current payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
* Handle complex payroll queries and client relationship management
* Oversee pension auto-enrolment processes
* Manage year-end procedures including P60s and P11Ds
* Maintain accurate payroll records and reporting
What You Need
* Minimum 5 years\' payroll experience within professional services
* Proven experience managing client payrolls
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC procedures
* Previous team management or supervisory experience is a bonus as the role has 1 direct report
* Proficiency with modern payroll software systems
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong client service and communication skills
