A partner school in the Stockton area (TS19) are seeking a dedicated, patient and enthusiastic Post 16 Learning Support Assistant to join our specialist provision. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people with Autism and a range of associated learning needs as they prepare for adulthood.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals to help students access learning, build independence, and develop essential life skills. Your support may involve 1:1 work, small group sessions, emotional regulation assistance and general classroom support.
Key Responsibilities
* Support students aged 16+ with a range of Special Educational Needs (ASD, ADHD, PMLD, sensory needs, communication differences).
* Work 1:1 and in small groups to promote engagement, independence and progress.
* Collaborate closely with teaching staff to deliver personalised learning plans.
* Assist with classroom management and provide a safe, supportive environment.
* Encourage personal development, communication and social interaction skills.
* Be proactive, positive and consistent in your approach to supporting young people.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Hold an Enhanced Child & Adult DBS (essential).
* Have experience working with individuals who have barriers to learning.
* Be passionate about supporting young people with SEN.
* Be able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Show enthusiasm, resilience and a proactive approach.
* Ideally, have experience in SEN education or social care environments.
