Location: Gateshead, Newcastle
Position: Design Engineer (Drainage Focus)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
Working Hours: Monday–Thursday: 8:15 am–5:00 pm | Friday: early finish. Hybrid working allowed.

Responsibilities
* Plan, design, and oversee drainage systems (surface water, foul water, SuDS, sewer adoptions).
* Conduct hydrological surveys, assessments, calculations, and cost estimations.
* Produce technical drawings and reports, liaising with local authorities when needed.
* Utilise industry-standard tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage).
* Ensure compliance with current legislation and environmental directives.
* Provide clear communication to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
* Support junior staff and help nurture technical development.
Qualifications
* Degree in Civil Engineering (or related).
* Proven experience in drainage design (including SuDS, highways, sewer adoptions).
* Skilled in relevant software: MicroDrainage, Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, etc.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills, with stakeholder engagement experience.
* Chartered status (ICE/CIWEM) or actively working towards it is advantageous.
