Location: West Kingsdown, Kent
Hours: 9.00am-6.00pm for both Saturday and Sunday, these will be worked as alternate weekends. This is a 2:1 care team, so we are looking for 2 Support Workers. Bank hours available to cover absences of the current team and additional cover for school holidays.
Reports to: Parents and Case Manager
Salary: Weekdays, £16.00 per hour, and £17.00 per hour, Weekends and Bank Holidays. Sleeping nights £National Living Wage (currently £12.21 per hour for workers aged 21 and over), Waking Nights, Monday to Friday, £16.00 per hour, Waking Nights, Weekends and Bank Holidays, £17.00 per hour.
Driving licence required

About the Role

We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and proactive Support Workers to join a dedicated home-based care team supporting a young person with complex needs.

Matthew was born in and he lives at home with his family in an adapted property. He requires 2:1 support across all daily activities. He enjoys music, using his iPad, shopping trips, and engaging with the world around him. He lives with Cerebral Palsy, visual impairment, and a degree of learning disability and attends a specialist school. He uses a range of supportive equipment including a wheelchair and a Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV).

We are looking for Support Workers who are confident, caring, and able to work collaboratively with another team member, the family, therapists, and his wider support network.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Support & Personal Care

1. Assist with all aspects of personal care including toileting, washing, dressing/undressing, mealtimes, and bedtime routines.
2. Prepare meals and drinks, assist with feeding, and manage dietary routines (including packed lunches during school terms).
3. Administer medication (training provided).
4. Maintain the Matthew’s dignity, comfort, and emotional wellbeing at all times.
5. Provide overnight support as required.
6. You may be asked to accompany the family on holiday.

Therapy & Development

7. Implement daily therapeutic programmes designed by his therapists (e.g. positioning, communication, feeding, mobility exercises).
8. Encourage communication using Assistive Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices.
9. Promote choice-making and independence appropriate to his developmental level.
10. Support attendance at appointments, and community activities.

Home & Equipment Support

11. Assist with domestic tasks related to Matthew (tidying, sorting laundry, changing bedding, maintaining equipment cleanliness).
12. Use specialist equipment including hoists, mobility aids, seating systems, and wheelchairs (full training provided).
13. Report any equipment concerns to parents/Case Manager.

Teamwork, Communication & Conduct

14. Work cooperatively with the family, Case Manager, therapists, school staff, and other Support Workers.
15. Maintain clear written and verbal communication, including record keeping.
16. Respect confidentiality at all times.
17. Follow Health & Safety guidelines and policies.
18. Uphold professional conduct in line with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers.

Mobility & Activities

19. Drive Matthew’s wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV), automatic, for outings and appointments (insurance provided).
20. Support in engaging, enjoyable home and community-based activities.
21. Be willing and able to assist in physically active tasks, floor-based activities, and mobility work.

Pay and Benefits

22. Weekdays, £16.00 per hour, and £17.00 per hour, Weekends and Bank Holidays. Sleeping nights £National Living Wage per hour (currently £12.21 per hour for workers aged 21 and over), Waking Nights, Monday to Friday, £16.00 per hour, Waking Nights, Weekends and Bank Holidays, £17.00 per hour.
23. 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
24. Pension (subject to qualifying status)
25. Sickness benefit (on successful completion of the probation period)
26. Free DBS check.
