The Role

NHS Lanarkshire Cancer Services are seeking applications from highly motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic programme managers to join their team. Experienced project managers with experience of working strategically at local, regional and national level are invited to apply for this opportunity.

The post holder will lead the development of a Cancer Strategy local delivery plan for NHS Lanarkshire cancer services. Responsible for cancer prevention, early detection, diagnostics, treatment, and living with and beyond cancer. The strategy and delivery plan will have a strong focus on addressing health inequalities through continuous improvement. A significant component of the role will include working alongside the senior nurse / clinical lead for the strategic review of SACT services in NHSL. We are seeking individuals who can demonstrate a high level of competence in project management, work under pressures, managing competing demands and meet deadlines.

This is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee must already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.


In this key role, you will:

* The post holder is directly accountable to the General Manager for Cancer, NHS Lanarkshire Acute Division.
* Personal Objectives will be agreed by the General Manager for Cancer and performance monitored within NHS Lanarkshire’s Performance Management System.
* The work of the post holder will be largely self-directed but aligned to the Cancer Strategy Implementation Plan and agreed work-streams.
* The individual will work autonomously, meeting with the Cancer Management Team, Cancer Strategy Steering Group and Cancer Strategy Implementation Group at regular intervals to review progress.


What You'll Bring:

* Graduate calibre with evidence of continued professional development. PG Qualification with 5 years senior experience in Management essential.
* NHS experience within Cancer services required with evidence of managing change within a complex organisation. Clinical Cancer experience required.
* Extensive experience of High Level Leadership and management of projects, a portfolio approach to working, experience of working with and influencing teams.
* Able to forge positive relationships and work effectively with multi-professional teams and across organisational boundaries.
