Role: CPI Data Administrator / Collector
A CPI data administrator / collector is responsible for collecting the prices of specific items on a monthly basis across selected retail premises in a designated town or city. This important work impacts various industries nationwide and is conducted on two set days each month—specifically, Monday and Tuesday—with potential additional short collection days on Fridays in some areas.
Collectors work approximately 12-15 hours over these two days each month. The role may take longer initially as you familiarize yourself with store layouts.
If you are over 18, have a vehicle and a valid UK driving license, and wish to earn money while visiting shops, then this role might be suitable for you!
Starting April 2024: £13.44 per hour (including holiday pay) outside London, plus travel expenses.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the UK Government Department responsible for producing the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), a key measure of inflation. CPI collects data on goods and services from over 200 towns and cities across the UK to monitor changes over time.
Role Details
This is an ideal part-time role for individuals seeking customer service, sales, or administrative work, especially those with existing commitments, childcare, or caring responsibilities looking to supplement their income.
You will visit the same locations each month to collect data on 800-1500 items from 15-20 locations, including:
* Supermarkets & convenience stores
* Restaurants & bars
* Discount retailers
* Clothing shops
* Cinemas
* Mechanics' garages
* Tobacconists

* A car is mandatory for this role.
* No prior experience is necessary; full training will be provided.
* Successful applicants will need to complete DBS, identity, employment, and right-to-work checks.
* Use of a handheld device to record prices in real-time is required; electronic device literacy is important.
* Applicants must be over 18 years old.
* Applicants must be able to prioritize data collection over other commitments.
* Work as part of a team across geographic regions is expected.
* Strong organizational skills and experience as a shopper are advantageous.
