The Role
HCPC registered psychologist (if Clinical or Counselling Psychologist) or NMC (honours degree) or AHP (honours degree) or accredited membership of BABCP / BACP /UKCP or b) Graduate basis for chartership (GBC) with BPS and have completed a clinical skills training programme at Masters level (accredited by the BPS)
The core focus of the role will be upon the psychological assessment and treatment of clients, their families and/or carers referred from GPs and from wider CMHT colleagues, referred as outpatients. This post may also involve consultation and training with other health/mental health professionals within the community; as required.
Ideally the post-holder will be able to draw upon additional training achieved post-qualification relevant to the service, to a level of a working knowledge as a minimum. This may well be one or more of the following: BFT, CBT for Psychosis, around complex trauma and issues of personality CFT, DBT, CAT, Schema etc.
As a senior clinician, the post-holder will be expected to undertake a role deputising for the Co-ordinator as required, at weekly referral allocation and MDT meetings with the CMHT, team meetings, representing the North PTT at meetings within NHS Lanarkshire, with local referrers and to take on the management responsibilities of the service during the Co-ordinators absence during sickness, leave etc.
There will be a requirement to become involved in activities across the wider work of the Psychological Therapies Teams operating within NHS Lanarkshire where necessary, e.g. staff training.

What we'll need you to bring
Clinical / Counselling Psychologist
Have a Post Graduate Doctoral level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and be a Registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council in the UK.
Complete further courses of additional learning as relevant to the clinical skills required for the post and identified as significant in the Personal Development Plan, and have accredited training in the supervision of Post Graduate clinical trainees.
Have knowledge of NHSL Health Board's Policies and Procedures, and national and professional guidelines for optimal standards of clinical care e.g. child protection guidelines.
Have knowledge of psychiatry and other related professions in order to understand complex clinical presentations.
Work in a sensitive manner with respect to diversity and gender, ethnic, culture and philosophical issues with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
Be aware of the limits of one's competence and expertise.
Maintain and update knowledge of legislation and local policies and issues in relation to Adult Mental Health generally.
Attend in-house and external mandatory training courses (e.g.) computer training, Moving and Handling, Management of Aggression and Violence, etc.
Be aware of the need to deploy valuable Health Service resources in an effective and rational manner according to contemporary evidence-based practice.
Possess a full driving licence
Senior Psychological Therapist
Hold one of the following:
HCPC registered psychologist (doctorate degree) or NMC (honours degree) or Allied Health Professional (AHP) (honours degree) or accredited membership of BABCP / BACP / UKCP or
Graduate basis for chartership (GBC) with BPS and have completed a clinical skills training programme at Masters level (accredited by the BPS).
As well as having completed training in at least one evidence based psychological therapy the postholder must have additional relevant experience of providing a highly specialised psychological assessment and treatment service.
Have knowledge of NHSL Health Board's Policies and Procedures, and national and professional guidelines for optimal standards of clinical care e.g. child protection guidelines.
Ensure supervision skills are maintained in line with professional guidelines and programme supervision requirements.
Have knowledge of MDT working in order to understand complex clinical presentations.
Work in a sensitive manner with respect to diversity and gender, ethnic, culture and philosophical issues with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
Be aware of the limits of own competence and expertise.
Maintain and update knowledge of legislation and local policies and issues in relation to Adult Mental Health generally.
