PRS are currently working with a growing Building Services design consultancy, based in Rochester (Kent) who are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. You’ll play a key role in leading mechanical design on a range of projects across commercial, residential, hospitality, education, and mixed-use developments.
This is a hands-on design role with real influence — you’ll be trusted to make technical decisions, mentor junior engineers, and work closely with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, efficient, and sustainable solutions.
What you’ll be doing:
* Leading mechanical building services design from concept through to construction
* Designing HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, and domestic services systems
* Producing and reviewing calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings
* Coordinating with electrical, public health, structural, and architectural teams
* Managing technical delivery on projects and supporting project programmes
* Mentoring and checking the work of junior and intermediate engineers
* Attending client meetings, design reviews, and site visits
* Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and best practice
What we’re looking for:
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
* Significant experience in mechanical design within building services / MEP
* Strong technical knowledge of HVAC and related building systems
* Experience working across multiple project stages (RIBA or equivalent)
* Familiar with UK building regulations, CIBSE guidance, and industry standards
* Confident communicator with clients and internal teams
* Experience using industry software (e.g. Hevacomp, IES, AutoCAD, Revit)
* Working towards or holding CEng status (or equivalent) is highly desirable
