Post: Bank Healthcare Assistant (Bank HCA)

Rate of Pay: £12.59 – £12.76 per hour

Job Family: Patient Care Range: A

Location: Ashgate Hospice, Chesterfield

Hours: Flexible bank shifts available: Day (07:00 – 19:30) & Night (19:00 –07:30). Shorter day shifts may be available.

Closing date: 28th September 2025

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Bank HCA in our IPU, you'll:

* Provide personalised care, supporting patients with personal hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs.
* Work alongside registered nurses and the wider team to deliver holistic, patient-centred care.
* Offer emotional support to patients and their families during difficult times.
* Maintain dignity, respect, and compassion in every interaction.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for compassionate, flexible individuals who are passionate about patient care.

Qualifications:

* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
* Care Certificate (or willingness to complete within 12 months).
* Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification (desirable).

Skills and Experience:

* Experience delivering personal care in a healthcare setting.
* Understanding of palliative and end of life care.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm and compassionate in challenging situations.

About Ashgate:

Ashgate Hospice, based in North Derbyshire, offers free palliative and end of life care for adults with life-limiting or incurable illnesses, including cancer, neurological diseases, and advanced heart, kidney, and lung conditions. Last year, we cared for over 2,400 people. Our aim is to support our patients by keeping them informed, managing their symptoms, and improving their quality of life from diagnosis onwards.

We also provide vital support to the people who are important to them, offering practical assistance and emotional support, including bereavement services.
