Heritage Project Director

Bramley Baths, Leeds

Fixed Term Contract: 19 Months (with potential 18-24-month extension, subject to successful funding application)

Salary: £55,000 – per annum FTE 16 hours (pro rata)

Start Date: August/September 2025

Contract Pause: Anticipated pause between March - August 2027

Bramley Baths is a unique, community-led, Grade II-listed Edwardian pool and wellbeing centre with a powerful story of resilience, transformation and community ownership.

We are seeking an experienced Heritage Project Director to lead the delivery of our ambitious capital restoration and oversee our heritage programme, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other partners.

This role will lead the delivery of the Baths’ next major chapter: preserving our beautiful heritage, ensuring long-term sustainability, and deepening our engagement with new and diverse communities of West Leeds and the wider region.

Role Summary

You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership, coordination, and successful delivery of all aspects of the capital and heritage activity plan.

This includes contractor and consultant management, governance reporting, and budget oversight.

You’ll guide us through:

* Development stage phase completion (2025 - 2027).
* Pre-construction delivery planning (to March 2027).
* Planned contract pause (March - August 2027) pending Stage 2 funding.
* Writing a successful 18-24 month delivery phase application submission by March 2027 (anticipated to run from August/September 2027).

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and coordinate the delivery of all aspects of the NLHF-funded heritage capital project.
* Manage external consultants, contractors and suppliers to deliver to time, within budget and specification.
* Oversee governance, risk, change control, procurement (in line with National Lottery Heritage Fund guidelines).
* Report regularly to the CEO, Project board and trustee board
* Champion sustainability, accessibility, and inclusion throughout the project lifecycle.

Person Specification

Essential:

* Proven track record delivering large-scale heritage or capital projects, ideally with National Lottery Heritage Fund investment.
* Experience of budget management, reporting and procurement within the not-for-profit/public sector.
* Excellent project management and leadership skills with strong communication abilities.
* Experience managing a team of consultants, architects and contractors.
* Knowledge of listed buildings, conservation processes, permissions and working with statutory bodies.
* Passion for heritage, community empowerment and inclusive public spaces.
* Experience of writing large scale and successful funding applications

Desirable:

* Understanding of community ownership and the social enterprise sector.
* Experience with change control processes, interpretation planning, and evaluation frameworks.

Contract Details:

* Fixed Term Contract: 19 months initially (subject to contract pause between March - August 2027).
* Potential for 12–24-month extension to lead delivery phase pending successful funding approval.
* Hybrid or flexible working considered for the right candidate.
