We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced children's nurse to join our CNS team.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for providing a comprehensive and high-quality cancer nursing service to the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
He / she will lead and provide advanced nursing care to patients with cancer, with particular responsibility for enhancing the patient experience of cancer treatment, ensuring continuity of care and influencing patient pathways. The post holder will be a clinical expert, sound educator, committed researcher and proficient leader.
The post holder will work collaboratively and autonomously interfacing with Children's and Young People's Outreach and Symptom Care Team (CYPOONS), Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Units (POSCUs), Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and across other professional boundaries using advanced knowledge and assessment skills to facilitate the most suitable care and environment for patients and their family.

* Provide clinical support and continuity of care to children with leukaemia, lymphoma and histiocytosis
* Support and educate children, families and staff to ensure clear understanding in clinical trials relevant for CYP with haemato-oncology disease.
* Demonstrate a high degree of professional autonomy using clinical judgment to provide advice where protocols may not currently exist.
Act as a knowledgeable resource and nursing expert to healthcare professionals within RMH and relevant cancer networks.
Provide information, education and support to children and families, acting as an advocate as necessary. Work with local and national patient support groups to optimise care.
* Facilitate professional and clinical leadership for CYP within the OCCYP and across the Trust.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* Registered Children's Nurse
* Children's Oncology qualification
* First Degree in health‑related subject
* Higher Degree in health‑related subject (or willingness to undertake)
* CYP physical assessment skills
* Experience in research
* Experience in teaching
Experience
* Excellent clinical skills that have been practiced at a senior nurse level
* Expertise in working with children and young people with haemato‑oncology disease
* Evidence of recent continued professional development
* Experience in chemotherapy administration
* Knowledge and understanding of clinical trials management
* Up to date Advanced Life Support qualification
* Venepuncture and /or cannulation skills
