Job Title: Mechatronics Technician (Electrical Bias) Department: Engineering & Maintenance Location: Wolverhampton Reporting To: Engineering Manager Overview An established manufacturing organisation is seeking a skilled Electrically Biased Mechatronics Technician to support the ongoing maintenance and optimisation of high-volume production equipment. This role is critical in ensuring operational efficiency, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site. Qualifications & Experience Recognised electrical engineering qualification (e.g. City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent), or demonstrable hands-on experience at an equivalent level Proven background in electrical maintenance within a high-volume manufacturing or production environment Strong working knowledge of PLC systems, including Siemens S7 and/or Allen Bradley Multi-skilled capability with a willingness to support mechanical maintenance activities where required Key Responsibilities Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production machinery to maximise uptime and efficiency Complete all maintenance documentation, data recording, and reporting accurately and within required timeframes Perform preventative maintenance and condition-based monitoring activities Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and technical drawings Support installation and upgrade projects, including cabling, containment systems, and electrical infrastructure Work with systems involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLC controls Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practice Provide cross-functional support to other maintenance personnel when required Participate in training and development to remain compliant with current legislation and industry standards Communicate effectively across all levels of the business Support shift cover, overtime, and call-out requirements as needed Skills & Competencies Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment Team-oriented with the ability to support and influence others Good numerical and IT skills, including maintenance management systems Flexible, proactive, and committed to ongoing learning and development Technical Knowledge Electrical systems and wiring regulations PLC fault finding and basic programming awareness Pneumatics and hydraulics (basic level) Fabrication and basic welding (desirable) General mechanical fitting skills Working Environment This role operates within a fast-paced, results-driven manufacturing environment.
