Job Description
1. Demonstrates leadership and commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ). Actively encourages and leads the HZI and contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements
2. Ensures that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management and HSE team, HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
3. Is responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under their control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised
4. Ensures that works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract and conform with project time and budget requirements
5. Co-ordinates all lifts and lifting equipment on the site (where HZI is the principal contractor)
6. Chairs co-ordination meetings between the various contractors on site to ensure the minimum hindrance to the construction work
7. Prepares HZI lifting method statements
8. Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements, and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS
9. Conducts regular audits of contractor lifting equipment
10. Ensures all lifting operations are planned, organised, and undertaken by competent persons. The plan will address the risks identified by the RAMS, the resources required, procedures and the responsibilities so that any lifting operation is carried out safely
11. Ensures lifting equipment is suitable for the proposed use and is used safely
12. Selects and provides a suitable crane and work equipment, including safe slinging and signalling arrangements
13. Maintains and examines the crane and equipment
14. Ensures that all concerned personnel are trained and competent in Lifting procedures
15. Supervises operations by personnel having the necessary authority
16. Plans and provides thorough examinations, reports and other documents
17. Prevents unauthorised movement or use of the crane; and measures to secure safety of persons not involved in the lifting
18. Checks that lifting equipment and accessories (slings, clamps, strops, chains, hooks etc.) are marked with any appropriate information which must be taken account for its safe use e. g. safe working loads
19. Ensures that lifting equipment and lifting accessories are subject to a periodic thorough examination as required
20. Delivers Lessons Learned and feedback for current and future projects
21. Keeps the Site Manager informed of all site-related activities
Qualifications
22. Experience in mechanical engineering
23. Knowledge of British Standard BS 7121 Part 1 2006
24. Appointed Persons Lifting Operations Qualification
25. Knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal and management system requirements
26. Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) or equivalent
27. Valid Safety Contractors Certificate (SCC), Safepass (ROI), CSCS or CCNSG card or equivalent
28. Solution orientated

32. Ability to present ideas effectively
