(SEND/SEMH) - Weston-super-Mare Location: Weston-super-Mare Start Date: June / September 2026 Daily Rate: £95 - £140 (dependent on experience) Contract: Full-time, long-term We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a lovely and supportive SEND provision in Weston-super-Mare. This is a full-time, long-term role with opportunities to start in June or September 2026. About the Role This is a varied and rewarding position where you will support students both within the school setting and as part of outreach projects in the community. You will work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them engage positively with education and develop key life skills. The Provision This welcoming SEND provision prides itself on its nurturing approach and strong ethos of positive praise and encouragement. Staff are highly supportive, and the setting is focused on providing a safe, structured environment where every student is given the opportunity to succeed. Key Responsibilities Provide behaviour support on a 1:1 and small group basis Work with students in school and support outreach activities in the community Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour Encourage positive engagement, attendance, and personal development Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral teams About the Pupils / Job Specification The provision supports pupils with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, which may include: Difficulties with mood, such as anxiety or depression Behavioural challenges, including oppositional defiance and aggression Self-harm, substance misuse, eating disorders, or medically unexplained physical symptoms Some students may also have diagnosed conditions such as: ADD or ADHD Attachment disorders Generalised anxiety disorders A calm, patient, and consistent approach is essential, alongside a strong ability to use positive reinforcement and praise to support behavioural progress.
