Technology Teacher - Hard Materials (Wood) – Starting 2026
Full-time, Permanent
Secondary (Years 7–15) / Wharekura, Certificated Teacher
Subject: Technology
Te Kura Tuarua o Tawera | Darfield High School invites applications for a teacher who can connect with students and foster excellence in wood technology. The position commences in January 2026.
Our students typically possess good practical skills and enjoy developing them. Our school's vision emphasizes building on these strengths, with a focus on competency development in the hard materials area. We are also considering a building program. Our facilities are traditional, with a focus on wood. This role may suit a beginning teacher with relevant industry experience, especially as our head of faculty is also a hard materials teacher.
Located near Christchurch, our semi-rural school is central to our community. We are in the early stages of implementing PB4L, restorative practices, curriculum reform, and cultural capability development. We have 830 students from Years 7–13, most well-supported and connected to their school community, though some require adapted practices to meet their needs.
Terms and conditions of employment are governed by the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement. Applicants must be eligible to work in NZ.
If you'd like to discuss the role, please contact our principal, Andy England, at (027) 668 0472.
