Job Title: Student Adviser (Welfare & Advice)
We are seeking a Student Adviser (Welfare & Advice) to provide guidance, advice, and support to students facing welfare-related issues such as domestic violence, bullying, harassment, housing, financial hardship, and honour-based abuse. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external support services to ensure students receive the necessary support to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one support and advice to students regarding welfare issues.
2. Assess student needs and determine appropriate interventions.
3. Evaluate risk levels concerning student safety.
4. Signpost and refer students to suitable services.
5. Develop and deliver staff training on welfare-related topics.
6. Raise awareness of welfare issues through campaigns and student events.
Candidate Requirements:
* Extensive knowledge of welfare-related issues.
* Experience in risk assessment.
* Understanding of the higher education environment and student needs.
* Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
* Proactive, collaborative, and compassionate approach to student wellbeing.
This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. A satisfactory DBS disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required.
Due to UKVI minimum salary thresholds, this role may qualify for university sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route.
The university may conduct various selection activities, and shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in person on campus. Interviews are scheduled for Friday, 30 May 2025.
