Senior Occupational Therapist

Our CYP Autism service predominantly provides assessments of possible Autistic Spectrum Conditions but also, more uniquely, offers specialist advice and interventions to CYP with a diagnosis of ASC. The service is for Children and Young People in the South Staffordshire area up to the age of 19 and extends to the age of 25 if they have an EHCP. The role is aligned to and works in partnership with our core Speech and Language therapy team.
An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to deliver specialist support across our Autism pathways and conduct robust Autism assessments.
This is an exciting, but also challenging, time to join us. Autism services across the country are facing unprecedented demand. In response, we are improving our service pathways and also pursuing our ambition to integrate our wider neurodevelopmental service offer and provide more seamless care to ensure efficient service delivery and an improved patient experience.
The post requires working a sites across South Staffordshire but hybrid working will also be a possibility.

Main duties of the job
* Be competent and proficient in delivering the requirements of the role; working as part of the multi-disciplinary team with children and young people in the Children and Young People's Autism Service.
* Demonstrate at all times the Partnership Trust's Values and Behaviour Framework.
* Assessment and outcome of Autistic Spectrum Conditions
* Be a Specialist Occupational Therapist and have a detailed professional and clinical knowledge in the assessment and management of functional needs of children and young people with ASC.
* Be responsible for a defined population of service users.
* Ensure the delivery of high-quality Autism assessments within the developing CYP Autism Service. The work is with children and young people up to the age of 19 years with significant concerns around their social communication and interaction.
* To ensure assessments are provided in line with NICE Guidance as well as other relevant local and national documentation.
* Be skilled in the assessment of occupational needs and in the development, implementation and evaluation of support/treatment packages.
* Have training and leadership responsibilities where appropriate and have some responsibility for team performance and service developments/improvements.
* Demonstrate initiative and be creative in finding solutions to problems.
* Work with the team leader undertaking delegated tasks in team management

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
* Registration with HCPC
* Demonstrate understanding of Sensory Integration
* Training in assessment tools: ADIR and ADOS
* Sensory training up to level 3
Experience
* Experience of working with Children and Young People with autism
* Experience of supporting Children, Young People and families with the impact of functional/occupational needs
* Experience of conflict management in clinical situations
* Experience of writing detailed assessment reports and care plans
* Experience of assessing Children and Young People for autism using ADIR and ADOS
* Experience of managing and implementing change
* Experience of writing assessment reports following autism assessment
Knowledge
* Advanced/expert clinical knowledge relevant to the post
* Evidence of reviewing clinical documents to inform assessment
