Overview
Somerset Cricket Foundation wishes to appoint 2 full-time Community Cricket Coaches to support the implementation of its 2025-2029 Strategic Plan. They will join an experienced team to continue the great work already taking place and will work predominantly across the job role areas with some work across the rest of the county.
Key Focus
The role combines coaching and development work with the coach providing school-based and community cricketing opportunities for children and young people of all ages. The coach will especially support the development of lasting relationships with schools, teachers and clubs to embed a culture of cricket in Somerset. The other main focus of the role will be to support our work with SEND pupils both in and out of school, and our Street Cricket programmes in the community. It will involve some regular evening and weekend work.
Responsibilities
* Primary, Secondary and SEND School Engagement – Deliver high quality and inspiring and inclusive cricket sessions in schools for both teachers and pupils. Work with schools to embed cricket within their PE and School Sport offer and deliver appropriate level competitions.
* Disability Participation – Provide opportunities for young people with disabilities to be able to access community cricket through Super 1s Hubs.
* Community Engagement – Support local communities to access cricket, specifically through Chance to Shine Street Cricket.
* Transition – Supporting movement of young people from school to club settings, especially into National Programmes (All Stars and Dynamos Cricket).
* Plan, deliver and review high quality, inspiring and inclusive cricket sessions that are young person focused including on PSHE, SEND and Leadership programmes.
* Develop lasting relationships with schools and teachers to embed a culture of cricket in schools in Somerset.
* Deliver cricket coaching sessions and inspire and support teachers through formal and informal training to raise the quality and quantity of cricket delivery in schools and leave a legacy of cricket in Somerset.
* Actively support and promote the transition of young people from school to community sport by, for example, the establishment of after school clubs or festival style cricket competitions at cricket clubs.
* Support and lead on local and county rounds of all school cricket competitions.
* Support cricket delivery for young people with disabilities at Super 1s hubs.
* Support other cricket-based programmes that may help address local inequalities such as Street Cricket.
* Support clubs with their All Stars, Dynamos and other junior activities.
* Support with delivery of Women’s and Girls programmes.
Monitoring and Evaluation
* Ensure all monitoring and evaluation is completed accurately and in a timely manner to meet the needs and expectations of our partners.
Additional Responsibilities
* Support and deliver on the SCF commercial coaching programme.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
* Experience as a sports coach to Level 2 or equivalent (please be advised SCF will support you to obtain a core coach qualification if necessary)
* Experience of working in sport at a recreational level, or in a school and/or club environment.
* Experience of working as part of a team and independently.
* Excellent people and communication skills with the ability to build genuine relationships.
* Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
* Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft programmes.
* Clean ECB DBS vetting check or commitment to undertake prior to commencement of the role.
* Safeguarding and First Aid trained, or commitment to achieving this within a short period of time.
* Ability to travel independently between sites (full and valid UK driving license and access to a car).
Desirable
* Experience of working with volunteers and community groups.
* Experience of delivering competitions and festivals.
* Experience of working on cricket specific projects.
* Understanding of partnership working and able to create strong and sustainable links with contacts throughout the area.
* Experience of teaching/coaching young people of all ages and genders.
* Knowledge of the Chance to Shine charity and their programmes.
