We have an opportunity for a Lead Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.
Please only apply to this advert if you have significant experience of managing a busy Minor Operations Unit and have experience in all aspects of Endoscopy. This should include supporting JAG. There is both a management and clinical aspect to this role.
This is a full- time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern. There is the requirement to be on-call for this role, this is usually for over the phone advice.
Duties Of This Role Include
* You support, coordinate and actively assist in the management and organisation of care provision within the Endoscopy Unit.
* You provide quality planned care for patients during their peri-procedure phase of care by delivering quality patient care through appropriate clinical supervision and managerial leadership.
* You implement best practice standards (HTM 01 – 06, Royal College guidelines, GRS, JAG, etc.) in endoscopy service delivery.
* You develop and support business initiatives, polices and strategies which improve the service delivered to all our customers.
* You are responsible for adhering to the departmental decontamination programme for flexible endoscopes.
* You participate in the completing all departmental risk assessments, COSHH assessments and implementing action plans to address risk.
* You comply with all relevant mandatory training.
Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria
* Previous experience as a Senior Registered Practitioner or equivalent in an endoscopy service.
* Experience and training in pain management, care of the deteriorating patient, care of patient under conscious sedation requiring monitored recovery.
* Experience of clinical governance and audit.
* Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills across a range and varied patient case mix and competence across a range of skills, including clinical and decontamination.
* Evidence of working in partnership with Consultants to explore and challenge existing practices while maintaining and enhancing services and standards.
* Registration as a Practitioner with NMC or HCPC.
* Basic and advanced Competence / qualification in Endoscopy Care and Decontamination.
* Operators and Managers Course in Endoscopy Decontamination.
* Teaching / Assessing / mentorship qualifications.
* Knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies (Care Quality Commission, GRS, JAG, HTM 01 -06).
* ILS.
