The salary is £45,000 - £55,000
HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 Monday to Friday
Join our vibrant, inclusive community in Group to develop high-quality, high-scoring, client-focused and compliant bids and content as an experienced and integral part of the bid team. You will be working with other Bid Writers, Bid Managers, the Proposal Manager, section leads and subject matter experts, mainly in the Complex Facilities Management division, to produce winning bid content that's accurate, consistent and aligned to the client's requirements.
You will be lead writer on key opportunities and provide bid writing and editorial support and structural guidance to bid teams, accessing knowledge resources and previous bids to maximise efficiencies. You'll also guide and mentor less experienced members of the team. Above all, you'll promote best practice in developing and refining content to achieve maximum scores.
What you will do:
* Draft content from scratch and edit material produced by others to promote the principles of 'Plain English' - conveying complex information and technical solutions clearly and succinctly
* Analyse client requirements including compliance and evaluation criteria to help maximise scores across all responses
* Input to answer planning workshops to help structure responses so they are easy to evaluate and answer the client's 'hot buttons'
* Provide editorial support to bid teams, interviewing and working with subject matter experts to shape compliant yet engaging technical content that hits the mark for the evaluator
* Take responsibility for higher-weighted responses and provide constructive feedback to help other bid writers improve their performance
* Help bid teams source relevant content from knowledge resources and previous bids in our Content Library
* Challenge solutions, enhance the overall quality of our proposal and manage quality deliverables in line with the bid programme
* Identify examples of best practice (case studies, high-scoring bid responses etc) for storage in the Content Library
* Support the post-tender lessons learned process to help embed continuous improvement
What you will bring:
* Experience in bidding as well as business development/journalism/content writing
* Knowledge of public sector procurement and bidding best practice
* Experience of producing and editing high-quality written material
* A strong team player, ready to roll up your sleeves to get a bid over the line
* Experience of developing knowledge information libraries and content management systems
* Experience of working within a large, corporate business
* Degree level education in an Arts or writing-based subject such as Journalism, English, History (Humanities).
* Excellent written skills, with the ability to produce concise, compelling and easy-to-read written material quickly to agreed deadlines
* The ability to translate complex information into accessible and easily understood content
* Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to interact with a variety of internal stakeholders at all organisational levels and develop relationships to establish trust and respect
* Excellent proofreading skills, with a logical and meticulous approach, ensuring accuracy and consistency in bid responses
* Strong time and project management skills, prioritising and managing tasks effectively to agreed deadlines
* Flexibility in accommodating changing priorities and deadlines
