As our portfolio of hydrographic and marine survey services continues to evolve, we are keen to connect with experienced and early-career Hydrographic Surveyors who may be interested in future opportunities within our Liverpool region.
This advert is intended to build a talent pool for potential upcoming projects. While there may not be an immediate vacancy, we would welcome expressions of interest from professionals who would like to be considered should opportunities arise.
About the role (potential future scope)
Subject to project demand, successful candidates may have the opportunity to support operational delivery and quality assurance processes across a range of hydrographic survey projects in UK waters.
Typical responsibilities could include (but are not limited to):
* Planning and executing hydrographic surveys across inland, coastal, and offshore environments
* Operating and maintaining survey equipment such as multibeam and single-beam echo sounders, side-scan sonar, magnetometers, and GNSS systems
* Processing and analysing hydrographic data using industry-standard software
* Producing survey reports, charts, and visualisations in line with client and international standards
* Supporting QA processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity
* Assisting with project planning, coordination, and client liaison
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including engineers and environmental specialists
* Ensuring survey equipment is calibrated, maintained, and deployment-ready
* Adhering to health, safety, and environmental requirements
* Keeping up to date with advancements in hydrographic survey technology and best practice
About you
We’re keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:
* A degree or equivalent qualification in Hydrography, Geomatics, Marine Science, or a related discipline (recent graduates with relevant training are welcome)
* Experience or exposure to hydrographic acquisition and processing software such as QPS QINSy, Qimera, Hypack, EIVA NaviSuite, or SonarWiz
* Understanding of multibeam and single-beam bathymetric data collection (experience with side-scan sonar, magnetometers, or LiDAR is advantageous)
* Basic CAD and/or GIS skills (e.g. AutoCAD, QGIS, ArcGIS)
* Practical industry experience gained through employment, placements, or internships
* A proactive, enthusiastic approach and willingness to learn
* Full UK driving licence
* Flexibility to travel and stay away from home when required
* Comfort working aboard survey vessels (RYA Powerboat Level 2 or willingness to obtain is advantageous)
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Location
This talent pool is focused on Liverpool and the surrounding area. Candidates should live within, or be willing to relocate to, a commutable distance should a role become available.
