Purpose: As a Sales Manager you will be part of the Commercial Life Science team and jointly responsible for ensuring RSSL maximises sales, reputation, and customer experience across the diversity of services offered in order to achieve the annual sales target. In this ‘hands-on’ role, the Sales Manager is the key interface between Commercial, Operations, and the Customer and will be and senior commercial services leads. The role reports to the Head of the Commercial Life Science Team.
Responsibilities
* Achieve the annual Life Science sales targets by maximising existing client upsell/cross-sell opportunities to current and additional worldwide client sites; develop the business development strategy with the Commercial Lead and execute it with the team
* Act as deputy to the Head of Commercial Life Sciences
* Provide strategic market strategy and sales forecasting
* Ensure offerings and the commercial connection between RSSL and clients are customer- and industry-centric; seek new sales opportunities and lead with operations, marketing and the wider commercial team to deliver a complete service offering
* Analyze, innovate and create a plan for engaging the target market; identify, prioritise and lead sales growth; lead and support the team through external events, client contact activity; create and nurture client relationships and partnership programming
* Manage major proposals, identify potential clients, build relationships and close sales opportunities
* Act as the central point of contact for accounts and connect with operations and technical experts to maximise client opportunities through BD activities
* Undertake regular tactical planning cycles with reviews; work with the team to create the sales pipeline and automate workflows in our CRM
* Horizon scan for 1, 3 and 5-year service offerings; determine market size and timings; develop external clients innovation funnel and seek funding approvals
* Actively engage in professional industry bodies; network and present findings to the commercial lead, technical and leadership team; identify seminars/events for presenting or attending to foster client relationships
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Language Requirements
* Educated to degree or professional qualification within the pharmaceutical industry with GMP understanding
* Intermediate level MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Proven communication and negotiation skills
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to create reports and performance analyses to support delivery of business SLAs
* Proven record of strong project and people management; ability to lead and finish discrete projects within pre‑agreed parameters
* Ability to stay calm while multi-tasking with several stakeholders and re-prioritise in changing environments
* Good communication and presentation skills; adapt style to colleagues and translate departmental impacts to all levels
* Process management – ensure activities are delivered in line with MDLZ policies and promote good practice
* Collaborative with ability to build internal and external partnerships; quickly find common ground and solve problems
* Informing – keeps stakeholders and key partners updated
* Years of commercial experience in a Sales Management position or senior Business Development / Account Management
* Sales team and project management experience
* Understanding and working to client legal contracts
* Direct client experience
* Fluent in English
