We are currently partnering with a Local Authority in Somerset, who are recruiting for a Litigation Lawyer to join their growing team on a 3-month locum contract.
This is a 25-hour per week contract with an hourly rate of circa £60.00/hour (Umbrella).
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
1. Managing caseload and advising on a variety of litigation matters, including homelessness, housing disrepair, debt recovery, possession proceedings, injunctions (for access to property and anti-social behaviour), traveller encampments, regulatory prosecutions, and judicial review proceedings.
2. Conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, legal documents, and providing case analysis.
3. Advising on education matters, particularly challenges to decisions around SEND and EHC Assessments.
4. Assisting in negotiating settlements and alternative dispute resolutions when appropriate.
5. Advising on selective and additional licensing schemes and enforcement work.
6. Providing guidance and supervision to junior members of the Litigation team.
Requirements:
* Experience in Local Government law.
Working hours: 25 hours per week.
