Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: BS21
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm (with a 30-minute unpaid break)
Pay: £13.13 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our supported living service in the BS21 area. We are also looking for someone who has the drive and potential to grow into a Supervisor position within a few months. The role involves ensuring the smooth running, safety, and upkeep of our property so that our residents and staff have a safe and welcoming environment to live and work in.
You will work alongside another member of the maintenance team, though they are employed on a bank basis and cannot cover all tasks alone. This role will suit someone who is hands-on, proactive, and keen to take ownership of the maintenance function.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks across the service, including general repairs, basic plumbing, painting, and minor electrical work.
* Ensure all equipment and facilities are maintained to a high standard and comply with health and safety requirements.
* Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests, including being available for occasional call-outs during evenings or weekends in the event of an emergency.
* Keep clear records of completed work and report any larger maintenance needs to management.
* Work respectfully within a care environment, ensuring residents feel safe and comfortable around ongoing maintenance activities.
* Support the organisation in maintaining a safe, well-kept, and welcoming environment.
About You
* Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities role, ideally within a residential, care, or housing setting.
* A practical skill set with good problem-solving ability and a "can-do" attitude.
* Strong sense of responsibility and reliability, with the flexibility to attend occasional emergency call-outs.
* Organised, efficient, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Good communication skills and an approachable, respectful manner.
* Ambition to develop and progress into a supervisory role.
What We Offer
* £13.13 per hour, paid regularly and on time.
* A stable, full-time role with opportunities to take on more responsibility.
* Supportive team environment with training and guidance.
* A workplace where your contribution directly makes a difference to people's lives.
