We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse who is keen to work at the leading edge of cardiothoracic practice in a fast-paced Critical Care setting. You will need to be a highly motivated nurse who is committed to delivering high standards of care and can demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills. You will also work closely with the ward manager and multi-disciplinary team members to monitor and maintain excellent clinical standards of nursing practice and staff development as part of the ward team. Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with the ward manager and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent
clinical standards of nursing practice and staff development as part of the ward team. Also, act as a team leader to ensure the needs of
the patients are met.
• To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor with the
support of their senior colleagues.
• To take charge of the ward/department on a regular basis.
• The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures,
supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment
• To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
Working for our organisation
We are looking for highly motivated Band 6 staff nurses to join our team on our Cardiothoracic intensive Care Unit (EICU) and High Dependency Unit (EHDU). Our unit caters for mixed specialty adult patients including cardiac and thoracic surgery, congenital heart disease, and cardiology patients requiring specialist care.

A dedicated Critical Care education team provides Band 6 nurses with a structured and proven development programme, supporting individuals to continue to gain the required skills and knowledge to become excellent Critical Care nurses. This comprehensive educational package includes the opportunity to undertake the Intensive Care course and gain academic credits towards a BSc or MSc pathway. We provide staff with basic and advanced training maintaining professional growth and ongoing development.

1. Awareness of the function of the cardiothoracic service
2. Demonstrates ability to regularly take charge of the department
