The Role
* Lead a surfacing team to produce world-class digital surfaces from concept to production within an automotive design studio environment.
* Collaborate with cross-functional design studio teams to realize the design intent.
* Assemble, review, and maintain master surface files with variants, working with studio engineers to ensure access to the latest CAS and engineering data.
* Maintain surface status reporting and transparency on development progress to project management.
* Deliver digital surfaces according to the project plan, with reviews and sign-offs with stakeholders.
* Work seamlessly between Alias Sub-D and Alias NURBS workflows to ensure rapid surface development and design freeze milestones.
Duties/Responsibilities
* Create digital surfaces from initial sketches to A-Class quality surfaces.
* Work closely with the Surfacing and Visualization Manager on core projects.
* Lead a project CAS team through the design studio's lifecycle.
* Ensure timely development and delivery of all design surfaces.
* Report weekly on surface development and release status to the management team.
* Translate design sketches into 3D surfaces, ensuring design intent is preserved.
* Coordinate with stakeholders to respect hardpoints and boundary conditions during surface development.
* Utilize Sub-D and NURBS techniques for efficient surface development.
* Maintain the latest release and work-in-progress files for cross-team access.
* Ensure surfaces meet quality standards and address non-compliances.
* Stay updated on industry trends, software, and processes to enhance team capabilities.

Candidate Experience:
* Automotive design degree or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience as a CAS modeller.
* Expertise in surface development and poly-modeling techniques.
* Experience leading teams to successful project completion.
* Project timing and delivery experience.
* Proficiency with Alias, ICEM, Alias Sub-D software.
