Join to apply for the Senior Insights Analyst role at Zapmap. As part of an influential and rapidly growing Insights team, this role offers a broad range of responsibilities and the opportunity to have a significant impact on Zapmap's market position. The role is suited to an analyst with several years of experience who has proven experience of transforming and interrogating data using SQL, working with data in BigQuery or similar, to create scalable data and insights products delivered to clients via Carto GIS or API.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with stakeholders to turn business questions and challenges into actionable data requirements. Use SQL to transform, interrogate, and evaluate data to produce outputs.
* Data Exploration and Analysis: Use SQL to dive into large datasets, uncover trends and patterns, identify and investigate anomalies to ensure data integrity and accuracy. Shape overall product strategy with insights.
* Subject Matter Expert: Build strong relationships and become a trusted advisor. Present well-thought-out, comprehensive recommendations.
* Data Delivery: Produce automated outputs for client delivery using platforms like Carto GIS, SFTP, Apigee, or Google Analytics Hub.
* Product Development: Collaborate with Insights Product Managers to innovate and create new data products from prototypes to production-ready client deliverables.
* Collaboration and Documentation: Ensure processes are documented and knowledge is transferred to build a high-performing team.
* Data Security: Adhere to policies and procedures related to data protection and security. Maintain governance of data as a key responsibility.
Required Experience & Skills
* Highly proficient in SQL with the ability to construct complex queries and manipulate data.
* Experience with data transformation frameworks (Dataform, dbt, or equivalent).
* Data storyteller: able to explain what results mean, explore alternatives, and predict outcomes.
* Strong attention to detail, methodical approach, and commitment to data integrity and analytical rigor. Creative, curious, and capable of challenging assumptions.
* Committed to writing clean, maintainable code and promoting high-quality coding standards with robust peer reviews.
* Leadership: positive attitude, mentoring junior team members, and making justifiable decisions.
* Strong collaboration skills; able to bridge between Data Engineering, Product, and Analytics.
* Experience with automotive, electric vehicles and/or charge point technology is desirable but not required.
* Pragmatism and an organised mindset with the ability to perform under pressure within internal and external constraints.
