About the Role

The post holder will be joining the Centre for Preventive Neurology to work on the international Global Parkinson’s Genetics Program (GP2; GP2.org), funded by the Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP) initiative and the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The aims of GP2 are to:

* Expand current understanding of the genetic architecture of PD in a global context
* Accelerate discovery and validation of novel disease-causing genetic mutations
* Provide training and resources to a broad, diverse base of scientists and clinicians

Specifically, the post holder will join the ‘early/at-risk’ theme in GP2, which is focused on understanding the genetic basis of prodromal PD on a global scale. This work includes identifying cohorts of patients with REM sleep behaviour disorder, hyposmia, and carriers of monogenic causes of PD, liaising with the principal investigators and ultimately bringing the data into GP2, to make it available to the global research community.

About You

The Data Manager will lead the extraction and harmonisation of data from early/at-risk PD cohorts and will oversee the delivery of project milestones, including developing detailed management and monitoring systems, managing and coordinating complex tasks, management of staff and students working on the project, and facilitating communication between multiple stakeholders. The appointee should have sound skills in data analysis including quality control and harmonisation, as well as experience in report writing. The applicant should be willing to work with investigators and collaborators across the GP2 network.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The Wolfson Institute of Population Health harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and aims to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health and preventive medicine. The Institute is organised into six separate research centres which, though complementary and following the Institute strategic plan, also have Centre-specific objectives and requirements. The Centre for Preventive Neurology brings together an expert team to carry out revolutionary new research into Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson’s Disease.
